In the dry, sun-drenched lands of Turkana and the vibrant communities of Kakuma Refugee Camp, something extraordinary is unfolding. Amid the rhythm of everyday life, young voices are rising joyful, confident, and full of faith through the powerful ministry of Atoo Sifa 101.1 FM and the beloved radio program Bible Sories Alive.

For the past five years, Atoo Sifa has been more than a radio ministry. It has been a friend, a teacher, and a steady source of light for countless families across North Western Kenya. Through the engaging segment of Mtoto Wa Sifa,, children discover timeless Bible heroes Joshua, Rahab, Moses brought to life in stories that speak directly to their hearts. Each episode opens a window to God’s Word, showing that His truth is not distant but real and relevant in their everyday experiences.

Recently, children from Love and Truth Church in Kakuma Town, under the leadership of Pastor Peter Lokwawi, had the joy of participating in a live broadcast hosted by Leah Kawon on Sifa FM Atoo in Kakuma. It was their second time on air, and the excitement was unmistakable.

As the microphones came alive, the studio filled with songs of praise, cheerful laughter, and heartfelt recitations of Bible verses. The children shared lessons they’ve learned from Bible Stories Alive messages of courage, kindness, and obedience. Their voices carried innocence and conviction in equal measure.

“We learned about Joshua and how God helped him lead the people,” said one young girl. “It reminds us that God can also help us to be brave.”

Moments like these remind us that every child has a voice worth hearing and a story worth telling. Mtoto Wa Atoo creates that sacred space for children to be seen, celebrated, and embraced as part of a larger faith community that extends far beyond their local church.

Why It Matters: Hope in Hard Places

For many children in Turkana and Kakuma, life can be marked by poverty, displacement, and uncertainty. Yet these are the very places where hope must be spoken the loudest.

Through Mtoto Wa Atoo, the airwaves become a sanctuary a safe space where children discover that God sees them, values them, and has a purpose for their lives.

For refugee children in Kakuma, many of whom have experienced loss and disconnection, hearing Bible stories in familiar voices helps restore trust and belonging. It reminds them that even far from home, God’s Word is still home a source of comfort, identity, and strength.

For Turkana children, growing up in remote areas with limited access to education and Christian resources, the program opens a door to faith and learning. The stories build their spiritual foundation and nurture values like honesty, courage, and compassion qualities that shape future community leaders.

In both communities, radio becomes a bridge of hope crossing barriers of distance, language, and circumstance to unite children under one life-changing truth: Jesus loves them deeply.

The response to the broadcast was heartwarming. Parents, teachers, and listeners from across the region shared messages of gratitude, celebrating these young voices of faith and the ministry behind them.

Pastor Lokwawi expressed it best:

“This program is doing something powerful for our children. It helps them see that God cares about them, that their voices matter, and that they can be leaders in faith.”

As Atoo Sifa marks five years of ministry impact, this moment stands as a powerful testimony of what God can do through media that is purposeful and filled with love. The Bible Stories Alive segment continues to bring Scripture closer to children’s hearts helping them not just know the Word, but live it.

The children followed captivating stories from the Book of Joshua, learning about faith, obedience, and courage lessons that mirror their own journeys of resilience and hope.

Today, as Atoo Sifa celebrates five years of ministry, we pause to give thanks to God, to our dedicated team, and to our faithful Bible Stories Alive sponsors and partners. Your support has made it possible for children in Kakuma to know Jesus personally, grow in faith, and share that faith boldly.

This is the fruit of your partnership Children who believe, hope, and dream because the Gospel reached their hearts through radio.

Because of you, Bible Stories Alive continues to echo across the airwaves every Saturday from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, carrying laughter, truth, and the timeless message that God loves every child deeply.
