A sage within the Church circles once said that a Church service is like an orchestra. A well- planned symphony! Oh. How true this is! In the last few years, TWR Kenya had noticed that something needed to be done in many a Church services to help improve the worship experience.

What’s new?

A sage within the Church circles once said that a Church service is like an orchestra. A well- planned symphony! Oh. How true this is! In the last few years, TWR Kenya had noticed that something needed to be done in many a Church services to help improve the worship experience, and hence, by extension help draw people closer to God. We noticed that many Church services luck order and the sound system is too noisy for comfort. Yet in the Bible we see order everywhere. We see harmony. The question arose, how do we therefore, help Churches? How do we help people enjoy the Church services in different Churches?

A few pastors and Church leaders we talked to confessed inadequacy in sound etiquette in their churches. In our response to this need, TWR Kenya came up with a special training for pastors and those who minister in church services and ministries. This is a training on how to handle sound and the sound equipment, how to source for quality yet affordable sound equipment, and the overall management such worship accompaniments. Many Pastors have been duped into buying poor quality equipment or inappropriate equipment for their churches. To many others, their services do not seem to have any coordination. Is this something we can help make better? Oh, yes!

TWR Kenya started this special program in 2019. One of the churches that was successfully trained is A.I.C Mowlem in Dandora District Church Council, and the surrounding A.I.C churches in the Eastern part of Nairobi in October 2021. It was a highly successful event where about 40 church leaders and workers attended. The Senior pastor of the church, and Chairperson of the RCC had the following remarks when one our department member met him: “Transworld Radio-Kenya did a remarkable job when they trained our churches, something that has had a great impact on our worship experience.” Rev. Dr. Sammy Muthini.

This year, there are plans to have a similar training at PAG Church, Hardy, in Karen, Nairobi. We hope to have no fewer than 30 participants who will be trained on the different types of microphones, mixers, speakers, sound management, social media broadcasts and ethics. These participants will come from the different PAG Churches in Nairobi.

We are excited about this upcoming training at PAG in Hardy area, Karen. It is an opportunity that has come after our visit to the Church on Sunday 15 May 2022. It is a visit that was an eye opener for the history and activities of the PAG Church in Kenya, to which we are looking forward to more visits to this warm church deep in Karen. The hunger for Bibles in this Church was evident. All the Bibles we carried were taken by congregants. They have asked for more and hymn books too.

As an organization, we are looking forward to our next visit to P.A.G Hardy, Karen, when we will carry with us more Bibles and conduct the special training on sound and sound management for the Church representatives from different P.A.G Church Assemblies in Nairobi. It is a time Church leaders should give a careful thought to the sound and media equipment in their Churches, the sound equipment they should purchase, and the coordination of the church worship service. We exist to help churches experience a meaningful worship in their congregations, and in any other outreach ministries.
