In the expansive and often challenging terrain of the Northern Frontier, where communities grapple with various social and economic issues, Sifa FM Marsabit stands as a beacon of transformation. Established over a decade ago, this multi-award-winning radio station broadcasts from the heart of Marsabit, reaching far and wide across the region, touching lives and bringing about profound change.

In a recent interview conducted among listeners in Marsabit town and its surroundings, Mr. Peter Noor, a former police officer turned burglar after losing his job, shared his remarkable journey of redemption. At one point, Mr. Noor found himself on the wrong side of the law, labeled as the most wanted person in Marsabit County for two years. His involvement in criminal activities, including robbery and inciting violence among communities, had made him a notorious figure.

“After losing my job, I made the unfortunate decision to turn to crime,” Mr. Noor confessed. “For two years, I lived in fear, constantly evading the police who were determined to apprehend me. I was labeled armed and dangerous, and my actions fueled tensions in Marsabit.”

However, Mr. Noor’s life took a dramatic turn when he encountered Sifa FM Marsabit. It was through the station’s Sunday Morning breakfast show that he heard the testimony of Pastor Catherine Moraa, whose own transformation inspired him. “I was once a hardcore criminal, addicted to drugs and perpetuating violence,” Mr. Noor recalled. “But through Pastor Catherine’s guidance and prayers, I found salvation. She mentored me over the phone, patiently leading me towards a path of peace and spiritual renewal.”

Reflecting on his journey, Mr. Noor expressed gratitude for the support and literature provided by Sifa FM Marsabit, courtesy of Trans World Radio Kenya. “They equipped us with Bibles and other materials that strengthened our faith and enabled us to grow spiritually,” he shared. “Today, I am an artist and poet, using my talents to promote peace and address societal issues. Sifa FM has not only transformed my life but has also led to the establishment of numerous churches in our region.”

Mr. Noor also recounted the story of a Muslim Sheikh from Badassa village in Saku constituency, whose conversion to Christianity was influenced by the compelling messages broadcasted on Sifa FM. “The consistent and persuasive teachings on the station made a profound impact on the community,” Mr. Noor explained. “Even a respected Sheikh could not resist the call to embrace Christianity.”

As he continues to rebuild his life and contribute positively to society, Mr. Noor sees himself as a testament to the transformative power of Sifa FM Marsabit. “I am now a role model for many,” he proudly declared. “Thanks to Sifa FM and Trans World Radio, our community is experiencing spiritual revival and positive social change.”

Through its dedicated mission and impactful programming, Sifa FM Marsabit continues to play a vital role in shaping lives and fostering unity and understanding among diverse communities in the Northern Frontier.
