Maata FM’s Vivian Achwa was privileged in June to travel to the Netherlands to attend a ‘Digital Media to counter hate Speech and disinformation’ training that was held at Radio Netherlands training center (RNTC), between the 13th of June and to 1st of July 2022. Vivian was the only Kenyan journalist among other 38 journalists who were drawn from Nigeria, Algeria, Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania, Colombia, Zambia, Egypt, Mali Vietnam, Ethiopia, Somalia, and Surinam.  

Besides benefiting from the training, Vivian was able to share notes with her fellow colleagues of the 4th estate from other countries.  She also had sometime to tour the town and did some features which was part of the training. 

She expressed her deep gratitude to the management of TWR Kenya and SIFA FMfor allowing her to attend that important training, 

“I believe I have acquired a lot of knowledge and skills. I’m planning to produce stories that counter hate speech and disinformation that will change the narrative and help many people in Kenya,” Said Vivian
