REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP) 1: Documentary Production for TWR Kenya’s 50th Anniversary
1. Introduction
Trans World Radio (TWR) Kenya invites qualified and experienced production companies to submit proposals for the development and production of a documentary film to commemorate 50 years of broadcasting hope in Kenya.
The documentary will celebrate TWR Kenya’s legacy, impact, and transformation from its inception in 1976 to 2026, highlighting its mission of reaching people through the preaching and teaching of the Word of God, transforming lives, and reaching communities across Kenya.

TWR Kenya, part of the global Trans World Radio family, has spent five decades sharing the message of Christ through radio and community outreach. Established in 1976, TWR Kenya now operates a network of SIFA FM stations that continues to impact millions.
As we approach our Golden Jubilee in November 2026, we seek to tell our story with authenticity, creativity, and excellence capturing both our historical journey and vision for the future.

3. Project Objective
To produce a high-quality documentary (30–45 minutes) that:

• Captures TWR Kenya’s 50-year journey, key milestones, and impact stories.
• Showcases voices of transformation from staff, listeners, partners, and alumni.
• Documents TWR Kenya’s evolution in media and ministry.
• Inspires audiences to continue partnering in the mission to “Reach people through the preaching and teaching of the Word of God”.

4. Scope of Work
The selected production company will be responsible for:

1. Concept Development & Scripting
   • Work with TWR Kenya’s teams to define the narrative arc.
   • Develop a creative treatment, storyline, and script outline.
2. Pre-Production
   • Archival research (historical footage, images, and documents).
   • Identify and schedule interviews with key individuals ( staff, partners, listeners).
   • Location scouting and logistics planning.
3. Production
   • High-quality filming (HD or 4K) across multiple TWR Kenya sites (Nairobi, Lodwar, Marsabit, Kakuma etc.).
   • Professional lighting, sound, and cinematography.
4. Post-Production
   • Video editing, sound design, music scoring, voice-over, color grading, and motion graphics.
   • Incorporation of archival material, photos, and audio snippets.
5. Deliverables
   • One (1) full-length documentary (30–45 minutes).
   • One (1) short highlight version (5–7 minutes) for digital platforms.
   • Teaser clips for social media (30–60 seconds).
   • Final deliverables in HD and 4K formats.
6. Translation/Subtitling
   • English version with Kiswahili subtitles (and vice versa if required).

5. Expected Deliverables

• Concept note and creative treatment.
• Shooting script and production schedule.
• Raw footage and edited versions for review.
• Final approved documentary (English and Kiswahili versions).
• Copyrights assigned to TWR Kenya.

Proposals will be evaluated based on:

• Experience and Portfolio (30%) – Proven track record in documentary or broadcast storytelling.
• Creative Approach (25%) – Originality, storytelling strength, and alignment with TWR values.
• Technical Capacity (20%) – Equipment quality, crew expertise, and production quality.
• Budget and Cost-Effectiveness (15%) – Realistic, transparent, and value-driven costing.
• Project Management and Timeline (10%) – Feasibility and clear execution plan.

8. Proposal Requirements

• Company profile, legal status, and contact information.
• Detailed proposal including concept, approach, timeline, and methodology.
• Team composition (key staff bios and roles).
• Three samples of previous documentary or corporate work (links or attachments).
• Detailed budget (inclusive of taxes, travel, and production costs).
• References from three recent clients.

Trans World Radio (TWR) Kenya invites qualified and experienced production companies to submit proposals for the development and production of a Coffee Table Book- (a Commemorative Book)celebrating 50 years of broadcasting hope in Kenya (1976–2026).

The book will celebrate TWR Kenya’s legacy, impact, and transformation from its inception in 1976 to 2026, highlighting its mission of reaching people through the preaching and teaching of the Word of God, transforming lives, and reaching communities across Kenya

• Combines archival material with modern photography and storytelling.
• Reflects TWR Kenya’s identity: faith-driven, innovative, and community-centered.

4. Scope of Work
The selected firm will:

1. Editorial Research and Content Development
   • Conduct interviews with founders, past leaders, staff, and beneficiaries.
   • Collect and curate stories, archival photos, and historical documents.
   • Write, edit, and proofread all book content (in English, with Kiswahili summaries if needed).
2. Creative Direction and Design
   • Develop a modern, elegant design concept consistent with TWR Kenya’s brand.
   • Layout design
   • Include infographics, timelines, maps, and captions.
3. Photography
   • Commission professional photography sessions across TWR Kenya sites.
   • Blend archival and contemporary images for narrative depth.
4. Printing and Production
   • Manage printing specifications and quality (hardcover, matte/gloss finish, 25×30 cm size).
   • Minimum 300 high-resolution images.
   • Print-run management (initial run: 500 copies).

5. Deliverables

• Detailed content outline and design mockups.
• Final edited manuscript and layout design.
• Proof copy for approval.
• Final print-ready files and digital e-book version (PDF/flipbook).
• Delivery of printed books (500 copies).
• All copyrights transferred to TWR Kenya.
