“For we are God’s masterpiece, created in the Messiah Jesus to perform good actions that God prepared long ago to be our way of life.” Ephesians 2:10.
This is among bible verses that have been inspiring Sifa FM Marsabit, a Trans World Radio Kenya Project to keep sowing the good news to its listeners and friends in Country and across the borders.
This is in line with TWR global mission to reach the world for Christ by mass media so that a lasting fruit is produced, as it is written “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Mathew 28:19-20.
Truly it is one thing to tell someone about the truths of the word of God in the bible, but it is another thing to distribute the bibles for the persons to discover the truth all by themselves.
That’s why a successful missionary to China in the late 1800s James Hudson Taylor ones said “The Great Commission is not an option to be considered; it is a command to be obeyed.”
Hence in spreading hope, Sifa FM Marsabit and TWR Kenya does both preaching and teaching the word of God, and reaching people with bibles for them to discover the truth by themselves.
In distribution of the bibles, this time round, the station focused on Qarcha area 660km deep into the interior of Southern Ethiopia, where the Oromo dialect used in the bible translation is quite familiar. The indigenous residents of Qarcha are Wollaga, Shewa, Gedeho, Borana, Konso and Sidamo.
With the assistance of a local pastor Pst. Daud Wondifraw of G.O.A Church Marsabit branch, the station used him as a contact person as well as in the actual distribution activities.
Pst. Wondifraw mentions Qarcha as a place where the gospel is slowly building its anchorage.
“I am glad to account that the beneficiaries expressed gratitude’s to the station and TWR Kenya for the support which will go a long way to increase their spiritual understanding of the word of God.” Attests Pst Wondifraw.
So far, he confirms that 128 people in total have received a copy of the New Testament, Oromo version bible.
The first carton of the bibles was distributed on 9th May 2021 to the high school students in Qarcha School. This happened in a youth conference where Pst. Wondifraw was one of the guest speakers from Kenya.
“Accessing the bibles in that Ethiopia region is not easy, hence the High school students felt empowered when they received copies of the bibles, because they can read for themselves.” Pst. Wondifraw explains.
